Alright, look. So in my last seasonal TBR, I put a hefty NINE books in the stack and only ended up actually reading four of them, whoops. It’s not that I wasn’t excited for the others or that I wasn’t reading, but it seems I sort of overestimated what I could really read alongside working my job, doing commissions, & also running my Patreon - plus, I sort of mood read a lot, so when I am reading I don’t want to really stick to specific stuff unless I’m forced to, haha.
That said, this time around I didn’t really put anything summer related in the stack. Instead, I just put six books I’m very excited for - 2 of which are in a series I’m very invested in right now, so I’m hopeful I’ll actually finish all of these.
So let’s get into the books!
#1 - THE LONG WALK by Stephen King
This is actually the only reread on the list! I read this for the first time when I was 12 or 13, and I loved it - it was the first book by King I ever read, and I was completely hooked! With the movie adaptation by Lionsgate coming out later this year (just a few days before my birthday, like fate!), I wanted to revisit it and see how much I like it now that I’m all grown up.
#2 - MYSTIC RIVER by Dennis Lehane
This is one I’ve already seen the movie for, and really loved - although what a gut punch!! I’m excited to see if the book holds up as well, with my expectations being on the side of it hopefully being even better than I remember the movie. I want to do a rewatch once I finish reading to see how they compare, too!
#3 - EMPIRE OF STORMS by Sarah J. Maas
I’m now starting the two books that can be read in tandem in the Throne of Glass series, but I’ll be reading them in publication order despite the events happening simultaneously. It’s honestly a sort of weird way to have books written so I’m not sure what to expect or make of it really, but I’ve been loving the books leading up to this one so I think I’ll enjoy this, too!
#4 - TOWER OF DAWN by Sarah J. Maas
See above, the same stuff applies, haha.
#5 - THE LOST APOTHECARY by Sarah Penner
I’ve got 3 Sarah Penner books on my shelves right now and haven’t read any of them, so it’s definitely time that I start changing that, haha. I’m starting with this one because I think it’s the first one published of the three I own, and I’m very much looking forward to it!
#6 - OUR INFINITE FATES by Laura Steven
A more recent acquisition with one of the last months of my Book of the Month subscription I had for a year, this one is by an author I’ve never read, which is always exciting! I’m trying to go into it without any set expectations because I’ve heard some mixed stuff, but the reviews I’ve seen from my most similar reading friends taste-wise have really loved it!!
